Rajendranagar BRS MLA Prakash Goud Nears Congress Leap

Brs Mla Prakash meets congress

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA from Rajendernagar, T Prakash Goud, is set to join the Congress party. His move comes after a meeting with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The decision is expected to be formalized shortly, with Goud likely to switch allegiance within the next couple of days.

Series of defections from BRS to congress in Telangana

This development follows a recent meeting between Prakash Goud and CM Revanth Reddy at the Chief Minister’s residence, where Government Advisor Vem Narender Reddy was also in attendance. Party insiders have indicated that Goud, along with his supporters, is poised to become a part of the Congress party either later today or by tomorrow.

Previously, on January 28, Goud had met with the Chief Minister privately, with Vem Narender Reddy present. At that time, Goud was offered a Congress scarf, but he had dismissed any speculation about him joining the Congress, stating his visit was to discuss constituency development funds and approvals.

Brs mlas to congress

The trend of BRS leaders transitioning to Congress has been ongoing. Notably, BRS Khairathabad MLA Danam Nagender, Bhadrachalam legislator Tellam Venkat Rao, and BRS Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari have already made the switch. Additionally, former MP Ravindra Naik joined Congress in the presence of CM Revanth Reddy, alongside MLC Patnam Mahender, who also shifted from BRS to Congress.

Ravindra Naik, who had represented the BJP in the Yellandu constituency during the Assembly elections, had faced defeat. Now, with T Prakash Goud’s impending move, the Congress party is set to strengthen its position further.

Goud had emerged victorious in the Assembly elections, securing 121,734 votes and defeating competitors such as Thokala Srinivas Reddy of the BJP and Kasturi Narender of the Congress party. His defection to Congress is part of a larger pattern of BRS leaders leaving the party post the Assembly elections.

The Congress party’s ranks are being bolstered as more BRS members, including prominent MLAs from Bhadrachalam, Khairatabad, and Station Ghanpur, have joined the party. This trend underscores a significant shift in the political landscape in Telangana with the Congress party appearing to gain momentum through these defections.
