Rachakonda police busts IPL betting racket in Uppal

Uppal:With the ongoing IPL season several bookies are trying to encash by indulging in cricket betting rackets, Special Operations Team (SOT), Rachakonda busted a cricket betting racket and arrested four men in connection with the case. The betting menace has increased since the start of IPL 2024.

All the arrested accused -Thondalapally Karthik Reddy,Kashireddy. Abhishek Reddy, Pathakota.Yadagiri, and Myaka Rajavardhan Reddy – hailing from Hyderabad.

With a tip off, on Thursday in a joint operation, SOT of LB Nagar Zone along with LB Nagar police nabbed a sub-bookie, and three punters from one house at RKR Colony, Hasthinapuram under the limits of the LB Nagar Police Station.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the accused persons are accepting online cricket betting through Lords exch.com site in view of SRH vs RR IPL 2024 ongoing match and gaining money illegally. Subsequently around Rs. 20 lakhs were seized from K. Abhishek Reddy and frozen his bank account which has Rs. 3.85 lakhs.

“Police identified the prime accused in that case Manoj who is operating this betting racket from Rajasthan State and a case was booked against him and other sub bookies,” said Rachakonda police in an official statement. Further investigation is underway to nab the accused. A case was booked against the accused under sections 3 & 4 of TS gaming Act at LB Nagar police station of Rachakonda commissionerate.

Rachakonda police cautioned that due to digitalization and lure to make quick bucks, some people have been lured to cricket betting. This is a vicious cycle which leads to addiction to betting money. Ultimately the bookie only makes money while punters lose money. Hyderabad Traffic police cracks down on school vehicle violations

Hyderabad: In a special drive against the vehicle plying school children, Hyderabad Traffic Police has cracked a whip against vehicles carrying school children in excess of the capacity and also the vehicle condition in Hyderabad City.

On Thursday Hyderabad traffic police identified 406 Auto rickshaw drivers not wearing proper uniform , 95 auto rickshaw carrying excess school children, 57 cases where school children were sitting beside the driver, 11 auto rickshaw drivers without driving licence, and 11 auto rickshaw without documents.

Most concerning is the wrong side driving. Traffic police have found 40 auto rickshaw drivers driving on the wrong side. Wrong side driving led to one of the most causes of accidents reported in the last few years.

“We have formed special teams which will conduct a special drive in the morning from 07.30 a.m to 09.30 a.m. and in the evening from 03.00 p.m. to 05.00 p.m.” Hyderabad Traffic police in an official statement. Further they added, Special focus is kept on the Auto Rickshaws without fitness certificates, without driving licence, drunken drive, overloading (more than 6 children of 12 years and below in 3 passenger Auto Rickshaw and 8 children in 4 passenger Auto Rickshaw), minor driving, and other violations.

These special teams will also hold a meeting with school management and counsel the parents who are carrying extra children on their two-wheelers and explain to them about the security and safety of school children.

Hyderabad Traffic Police appealed to all the parents not to send their children in a vehicle carrying more than the seating capacity. “Transporting Children in an overloaded vehicle is a clear violation of Traffic rules. This endangers the lives of children,” said Hyderabd traffic police.

Further they requested the school managements and parents to check the validity of documents -Driving Licence of Driver, Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate and Fitness Certificate- of vehicles before engaging such vehicles for sending children to the Schools. They are also requested to verify the antecedents / behavior of the driver.
