Hyderabad police arrest imposters posing as transgenders, extorting money in Trimulgherry

SECUNDERABAD: The Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone, apprehended two individuals for extorting money in the limits of Trimulgherry police station while impersonating as transgender persons. 

According to a press note, one of the accused is a transgender named Swapna Kumari, also known as Sapna Garud or Sanjay, aged 37, and another is a 17-year-old boy who pretended to be a transgender by wearing female clothes. They were allegedly extorting money from shopkeepers and pedestrians at the Lothukunta Traffic Signal. 

Swapna Kumari hails from Bharathnagar, Garkheda, Parisar, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, and currently resides in Suraram, Jeedimetla, Medchal Malkajigiri. The juvenile, on the other hand, is from Chamapur Machpada (V) Lalgola, Murshidabad District, West Bengal, and currently resides in Bharathnagar, Kowkuru, Medchal Malkajigiri District.

After the operation, the police urged the public to report any instances of individuals pretending to be transgender for the purpose of begging or extortion. Such actions can be reported to the police by dialing 100 or visiting the nearest police station.
