Owaisi demands apology for exam cancellations and alleged irregularities

HYDERABAD: Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of AIMIM, strongly criticized the cancellation of CSIR-NET and alleged paper leaks in the NEET-UG exam. He expressed outrage over the irregularities surrounding UGC-NET and NEET-PG exams. Owaisi demanded an unconditional apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union cabinet ministers.

Owaisi took to X, stating, “Exam warrior @narendramodi has waged a war on our youth’s future. First it was NEET UG (~23 lakh students), then UGC-NET (~9 lakh students). Then CSIR-NET was cancelled (~2 lakh students). NEET-PG (~2 lakh) was cancelled a night before the exam. The responsibility lies with Modi & his ministers. Our youth deserve an apology from the PM & justice from his govt.”

The National Testing Agency (NTA) postponed the June CSIR-NET exam due to unavoidable circumstances and logistic issues. This announcement came on Friday, followed by the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam due to integrity concerns. The NEET controversy, involving alleged malpractice, is currently being addressed by the Supreme Court.

On Saturday, the Union Health Ministry announced the delay of the NEET-PG entrance exam, initially scheduled for June 23, 2024. The ministry cited concerns about the integrity of some competitive exams as the reason for this precautionary measure. The Ministry of Health stated that it would conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of the NEET-PG entrance exam processes administered by the National Board of Examinations (NTA) for medical students.

NTA administered NEET(UG) Exam on 5th May 2024 in Offline mode with OMR sheets. Some instances of suspected misconduct/ fraud/ deceit/ wrongdoing have been documented.

In order to ensure transparency in the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has chosen to hand over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation following a review.

The Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 was also introduced by the Central Government to prevent cheating in public exams and address related matters.

Government is dedicated to upholding the integrity of exams and safeguarding the welfare of students. It is emphasized that any individual/ organization caught participating will be subjected to severe consequences.
