ACB court convicts a tainted officer in corruption case

Nampally: Former Assistant Audit Officer, Agriculture market Committee, Hyderabad who was caught by Anti corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana state while accepting the bribe convicted by ACB court on Friday. The tainted official was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Ten thousand in 2013.

It is pertinent to note that the tainted officer Abdul Nazeer, Assistant Audit Officer, Agriculture market Committee, New Osman Gunj, Hyderabad demanded and accepted bribe Rs 10,000 from the complainant for showing the official favor i.e. processing the pension bills.

According to the law enforcement agency, the accused officer Abdul Nazeer was caught red handed by ACB, Hyderabad City Unit 1 while accepting the bribe in 2013.

Subsequently, ACB arrested Abdul Nazeer and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court at Nampally in Hyderabad, who ordered to investigate the case and file the chargesheet.

One year simple Imprisonment

Mohammad Afroz Akthar, the Principal Special Judge for ACB Cases, Hyderabad convicted the accused after the trial. The judge convicted the accused under section 248 (2) Cr.P.C., for the offense under section 7 of P.C. Act, 1988 and 13(1) (d) r/w 13(2) of PC Act, 1988 . In both the convictions, the accused was sentenced to undergo a simple imprisonment for a period of one year and also to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 and in default of the payment of the fine amount, accused is sentenced to undergo a simple imprisonment for a period of two months.Both the sentences of accused officer shall run concurrently.

ACB appealed to the public to approach them through their Toll Free Number of A.C.B, i.e 1064 in case of demand of bribe by any public servant. Further assured to take action as per law.
