Nizampet Residents Seek Permanent Solution For Waterlogging.

NIZAMPET: The residents of Vasavi Layout, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Nizampet Municipal Corporation, are facing severe waterlogging issues due to prolonged rainfall and the absence of proper drainage systems.

Whenever it rains, commuters encounter problems because of the unpaved and dirty roads, leading to potential traffic disruptions caused by water accumulation. Additionally, poor sanitation poses health hazards and increases the risk of property damage. Residents are quite annoyed since it becomes flooded with even the shortest rain.

Sai Teja, a resident, expressed the hardships they endure due to waterlogging in their area. He disclosed the lack of proper drainage infrastructure, resulting in various issues. “Due to inadequate drainage, water accumulates without a pathway to flow or drain. It takes one or two days to dissipate, especially in certain plots like 206, 40, and 42. Our daily lives are significantly affected every time,” said Sai Teja.

Following numerous complaints about waterlogging in Vasavi Layout, Pragathi Nagar, the officials of the Nizampet Municipal Corporation took action by levelling the roads and installing temporary water barricades, according to the residents. However, these measures were temporary and implemented merely for the election period, according to Teja.

Subsequently, despite the preventive measures, the waterlogging issue persists during rainfall, remaining unresolved. Residents of affected plots urged the civic authorities to address their concerns, as their lives and those of their children are at risk due to waterlogging.

Residents are even more concerned now that the monsoon season is approaching, which could disrupt their everyday lives if the issues are not addressed. Hence, the residents of Nizampet wanted a permanent solution to their waterlogging problems.
