Police arrest two accused in Nampally murder case

Hyderabad: Based on the credible information, the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City, apprehended two accused persons who had committed a murder within the limits of Nampally Police Station and had been absconding since the commissioning of the offense.

The suspects have been identified as Mohd Gafoor (32), son of Mohammed Gaffar, a cook who lives at Dargah Barhane Shah in Santosh Nagar, Hyderabad, and Mohd Jahid, also known as Javid (25), son of the late Mohd Khaleel, a daily wage labourer who currently resides near the Nampally Public Garden.

The police reported that on the night of June 12, 2024, between 9:00 PM and 9:50 PM, two individuals, Mohd Gafoor and Mohd Jahid, were involved in a confrontation with a victim near Nampally Railway Station. The accused, who were under the influence of alcohol, were attempting to extort money from people living on the street. The intoxicated victim resisted their attempt.

The police revealed that both individuals were injured during the fight. After the altercation, the accused, enraged from being injured by the deceased, returned to the scene and attacked the deceased multiple times, including hitting him with a large stone, leading to his death. The Task Force teams swiftly apprehended both suspects, and a case has been registered under Cr. No.214/2024 U/s.302 R/w—34 IPC at Nampally Police Station.

The accused, Mohd Gafoor, was previously involved in property cases within the jurisdiction of Nampally and Saifabad Police Stations. The second accused, Mohd Jahid also known as Javid, was also involved in robbery cases within the jurisdiction of the Nampally and Moinabad Police Stations.

Inspectors E. Jagaiah of West Zone, N. Ramakrishna of Central Zone, Commissioner’s Task Force, and a team successfully carried out the apprehension.
