BJP MP Raghunandan Rao urges metro extension from Miyapur to Patancheru

Hyderabad: BJP MP M Raghunandan Rao met with the Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy on Tuesday to discuss extending the metro train service from Miyapur to Patancheru in the first phase and then to Sangareddy in the second phase.

He mentioned that the Metro MD NVS Reddy responded to his extension request for metro train service by stating that they would prepare the design and send it to the Chief Minister within a month.

“By December 2024, we hope to lay the foundation stone for the Miyapur to Patancheru Metro. According to me, MP means not Member of Parliament. I will prove that it’s Metro Pakka, by bringing metro services to Miyapur,” said MP Raghunandan Rao.

“Patancheru, located in Sangareddy district, is one of the largest industrial areas in Asia. The growing road traffic in this industrial corridor has resulted in a significant increase in accidents. Due to the escalating traffic in this area, I requested the extension of the metro line from Miyapur to Patancheru as soon as possible,” Raghunandan added.

“Extending the metro line to Patancheru will significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve commuter safety. It will also offer a dependable and efficient mode of transportation for the numerous workers and residents in this industrial hub,” said MP Raghunandan Rao.

In this regard, MP Raghunandan appreciated the opportunity to meet with the concerned officers to discuss the proposed extension of the metro line from Miyapur to Patancheru. He believed that this meeting would be instrumental in addressing the logistics and planning required for this important project.

Hyderabad Traffic police cracks down on school vehicle violations

Hyderabad: In a special drive against the vehicle plying school children, Hyderabad Traffic Police has cracked a whip against vehicles carrying school children in excess of the capacity and also the vehicle condition in Hyderabad City.

On Thursday Hyderabad traffic police identified 406 Auto rickshaw drivers not wearing proper uniform , 95 auto rickshaw carrying excess school children, 57 cases where school children were sitting beside the driver, 11 auto rickshaw drivers without driving licence, and 11 auto rickshaw without documents.

Most concerning is the wrong side driving. Traffic police have found 40 auto rickshaw drivers driving on the wrong side. Wrong side driving led to one of the most causes of accidents reported in the last few years.

“We have formed special teams which will conduct a special drive in the morning from 07.30 a.m to 09.30 a.m. and in the evening from 03.00 p.m. to 05.00 p.m.” Hyderabad Traffic police in an official statement. Further they added, Special focus is kept on the Auto Rickshaws without fitness certificates, without driving licence, drunken drive, overloading (more than 6 children of 12 years and below in 3 passenger Auto Rickshaw and 8 children in 4 passenger Auto Rickshaw), minor driving, and other violations.

These special teams will also hold a meeting with school management and counsel the parents who are carrying extra children on their two-wheelers and explain to them about the security and safety of school children.

Hyderabad Traffic Police appealed to all the parents not to send their children in a vehicle carrying more than the seating capacity. “Transporting Children in an overloaded vehicle is a clear violation of Traffic rules. This endangers the lives of children,” said Hyderabd traffic police.

Further they requested the school managements and parents to check the validity of documents -Driving Licence of Driver, Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate and Fitness Certificate- of vehicles before engaging such vehicles for sending children to the Schools. They are also requested to verify the antecedents / behavior of the driver.
