Choppadandi MLA’s wife dies by suicide in Alwal

Hyderabad: Indian National Congress leader and Choppadandi Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Medipally Satyam’s wife allegedly died by suicide at their residence in Alwal on Wednesday late night. Alwal police of Cyberabad commissionerate booked a case of suspicious death and further investigation is underway.

According to the Alwal police, The deceased has been identified as Rupadevi, a government school teacher, wife of Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam. When the family members saw her, the woman was found hanging to a ceiling at her residence in Panchasheela Colony, Alwal. The family members broke open the door and shifted her to a private hospital, however, she was pronounced dead as they reached the hospital.

Alwal police booked a case of suspicious death and shifted the dead body to State’s government run, Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for post mortem examination and further investigation is underway.

Several leaders have conveyed their condolences to the MLA and his family for the sudden demise. Transport and BC welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, accompanied by MLA Kavvampally Satyanarayana from Husnabad, reached Hyderabad late at night after the news of the sudden demise of Medipally Satyam’s wife Rupadevi came to light. He visited Satyam’s residence at Panchavati Kalani in Alwal and met him. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, accompanied by MLA Kavvampally Satyanarayana, stayed at Medipally Satyam’s residence throughout the night and consoled satyam and his bereaved family members.

Further Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reached the Gandhi Hospital and enquired about the post mortem examination with the forensic experts.

Who is Medipally Satyam

Medipally Satyam, had won the election from Choppadandi constituency in Karimnagar district in the recent assembly elections 2023 on a Congress ticket. He had contested twice before and lost in the elections. He won the election with a margin of 37,439 votes against the nearest rival Ravi Shankar Sunke who contested from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party.
