MANUU to offer Law education in Urdu medium from 2024 academic year

HYDERABAD: Since the inception of the world’s first Urdu university, Jamia Osmania, until 1950, LLB was taught using Urdu as the medium of instruction.

After a hiatus of 74 years since the discontinuation of law education in Urdu at Jamia Osmania, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) on Monday announced the offering of Law education in Urdu medium starting from the new academic year of 2024. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, has made an official announcement in this regard.

According to Prof. Tabrez Ahmad, Dean, School of Law, a career in law not only provides financial stability but also allows professionals to make a meaningful impact on society through their work. Studying law helps students develop a diverse set of skills that are valuable not only in the legal profession but also in various other fields. Law helps you to develop analytical skills, challenge your thought process and negotiate better and actually work for the common interest of the society.

Law professionals now have a variety of options and opportunities, such as working for non-governmental/inter-governmental organizations, human rights organisations, trade and investment areas, legal process outsourcing (LPOs), working as in-house counsel in companies and corporations both domestic and international etc.

Keeping in mind the fast growing demand of the law professionals MANUU has started Law School which currently offers 5 Years BA., LL.B (Hons), 3- Years LL.B, 2 Years MA (Legal Studies), One Year LL.M (with 6 specialisations) and PhD (Law) programmes. Admissions to LLB and BA,LL.B (Hons) programs are subject to BCI approval. BCI inspection is done and approval is expected shortly.

The last date to submit online form for BA LLB (Hons), LLB and LLM is May 20, 2024. While applications for MA Legal Studies can be submitted till June 30, 2024.
