MANIKONDA: Manikonda is grappling with several issues, including severe water scarcity, mosquito menace, and street dog attacks. These challenges have significantly impacted the daily lives of its residents, leading to widespread complaints and concerns.

Residents of Alkapur Township allege that mosquitoes have proliferated in their area and surrounding areas. They claim that the mosquitoes are breeding due to water hyacinth in and around Neknampur lake. Furthermore, they alleged that municipal authorities have failed to take adequate action to eradicate these hyacinths, which is crucial to effectively curb the mosquito menace.

The residents also produced AI-generated images to bring attention to the mosquito menace, traffic congestion, and the issue of stray dogs in Manikonda, which they shared with the relevant authorities.

Residents have raised numerous complaints about the problems caused by street dogs, mosquitoes, and traffic to the municipal authorities. However, there has been no relief from these issues. Prasad Rao Guduru, a resident of Manikonda, took to social media to express his concerns.

He said, “We are facing many issues in Manikonda. One is dogs, the second is mosquitoes. I almost fell from my bike due to dog attacks, and my family members have faced similar issues. We have complained to the municipal office, but our concerns have not been addressed yet. Dear Manikonda municipality and Alkapur municipality, kindly address the issue.”

Ramu Gurram, another resident of Manikonda, expressed, “We’re dealing with a severe mosquito problem in our neighborhoods, and it’s dreadful. We urge authorities to take action.”

Highlighting the traffic menace in certain areas of Manikonda, a resident said “As expected, the Andhra Bank junction is congested due to the closure of two vital junctions: ‘Lanco Hills to OU Colony’ because of Panchavati Box drain works and ‘Anjali Gardens to Lanco Hills’ for storm-drain-worka (SWD) works. The only accessible lane is the Marrichettu to Andhra Bank village lane. People are not accustomed to the new road from BRC to Lanco Hills, and it’s also far.”
