Man arrested for false bomb threat in Secunderabad

SECUNDERABAD: The Police Market on Sunday apprehended Ghouse Pasha, a 39-year-old cook at Happy Homes Hotel in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, for allegedly making a false bomb threat call that caused fear and disturbance in the public.

On January 27, 2024, Ghouse Pasha, the accused, allegedly, with the intention of spreading fear and disturbing public peace, placed a call to emergency services (dial 100). Pasha claimed to be near Alpha Hotel, reporting two suspicious individuals discussing the placement of bombs in the vicinity.

Responding promptly, the police alerted residents in the surrounding areas and informed higher-ranking officers and the Control Room about the situation. A Bomb Detection and Disposal team was dispatched to thoroughly inspect Alpha Hotel and its surroundings.

The outcome of the investigation revealed that it was a false alarm, and no explosive devices were found. A case was registered under Cr.No: 22/2024, invoking sections 153, 505(1)(b), 506, and 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the incident.

However, attempts to contact the accused, Ghouse Pasha, were unsuccessful as his phone was found to be unreachable during the search. Following the instructions of superior officers, special teams were deployed to Khammam, leading to the apprehension of the accused. Interrogation and technical evidence on January 27, 2024, confirmed his admission to making a false call to the emergency number 100, with the intention of instigating fear and causing public disturbance, including rioting.
