Lok Sabha Polls: 45 lakh voters set to exercise voting in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Vikas Raj and District Election Officer (DEO) Ronald Rose reiterated that Election officials are braced up for the Secunderabad and Hyderabad Parliament Constituencies and Cantonment Assembly by-elections. The polling will be held on May 13, Monday.

Around 45 lakh voters will exercise their right to vote in 3,986 polling stations on Monday. There are 1676 polling locations.Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Vikas Raj along with District Election Officer(DEO) Ronald Rose inspected the arrangements in Charminar and Yakutpura Assembly segments under Hyderabad Parliament on Sunday.

Speaking about the arrangements, the Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said, “All arrangements have been seamlessly executed for the voters in the elections to be held on May 13 in the state”. He further highlighted the provision of essential facilities in place at the polling centres for voters.

Providing further insights into the preparation on the polling day, the District Election Officer(DEO) Ronald Ross explained the extensive measures put in place to ensure seamless voting. Ronald Ross said, “All the facilities have been arranged at the polling centres, shamiana for shade, drinking water facilities, voter assistant booths”.

In addition to deploying medical staff and stocked with ORS packets in each polling station. In case of emergency, medical officials have set up 108 ambulances, medical emergency, GHMC control room,added the District Election Officer.

EVM shifted to designated polling stations

On the penultimate day the distribution was organised in the district on the occasion of Parliament elections on Monday 13th of this month. They moved EVM from the designated polling stations peacefully,added a statement from officials.

During the distribution process at the distribution centre, the polling officials received comprehensive training on the operation of EVM. The staff were informed that the polling will be held on the 13th of this month from 7 am to 6 pm. Before that, awareness was created in the distribution centre through a video presentation crafted by District Election Officer Ronald Rose about what steps to take as per the instructions of the Election Commission.

In particular, the rules regarding the time for mock polling were emphasised. The polling staff were asked to conduct mock polling by 5.30 am in the presence of two agents. In the event of their absence with a grace period of 15 minutes and poll officials should conduct mock polling. These EVMs should be kept prepared and operational for polling by 7 am.
