Lok Sabha elections 2024: How to vote if you are in a different city

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has unveiled the timetable for the Lok Sabha elections on March 16 form 17th term Lok Sabha elections in June 2024. These elections are going to be conducted over seven phases, commencing from April 19 and concluding on June 1, with the results set to be announced on June 4.

Here’s a guide on how to cast your vote if you are living in a different city:

  • Verify your voter registration status through ECI’s official website or by consulting local Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
  • To maintain your voting rights in your original constituency after relocating, you must apply for a transfer of your voter ID. You need to fill out a form requesting the transfer of your voter registration from one constituency to another. Which you can complete either online or at the nearest Electoral Registration Office.
  • You’ll need to provide specific documents, such as proof of residence at your current address, when submitting the form.
  • By submitting required documents, the ERO will initiate the verification process, which may include a visit to your current residence.
  • Following successful verification, your voter ID will be transferred to your current constituency. Then you will receive confirmation through your chosen mode of communication specified in the form.
  • Remember to carry your voter ID card on election day to cast your vote.
