Chandanagar residents protest at substation

After Tuesday’s unprecedented rains, many parts of the city are left in the dark due to Grid failures. Many parts of the city witnessed the power cuts and resumed after a few hours. However, in some parts, the power resumed only after more than 24 hours. Some areas in Kukatpally, Miyapur, and Uppal saw power outages for more than a day. This forced some citizens to protest in front of the sub stations. The locals of Chandanagar sat in front of Chandanagar substations in protest against the power outage for more than 24 hours.

At a street corner meeting in Dundigal on Wednesday, BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao, who was campaigning for BRS Malkajgiri constituency candidate Ragidi Laxma Reddy, lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his party on Electricity interruptions. He said, “Social media flooded with complaints regarding the power cuts in the city for more than 10 hours. However, during BRS tenure, we have ensured no power shortage. Because of power cuts, industries are leaving, the IT sector is collapsing, and the brand image of Hyderabad is being destroyed.”

Earlier Congress and BRS were at loggerheads over the lack of electricity in Osmania University. OU chief warden declared holidays and mentioned that there is a shortage of electricity and water facilities in the campus and asked for cooperation from students and asked the students to vacate the hostels. The issue snowballed into a political issue, when BRS supremo KCR took the issue to X (formerly twitter) accusing the Congress government for lack of electricity. The same issue led to the arrest of BRS social media convenor Manne Krishank.
