KRCR Colony residents demand action on drainage woes before rainy season

Krcr Colony Residents Demand Drainage Issues

BACHUPALLY: Residents of KRCR colony face persistent water stagnation and drainage backup issues, even with minimal rainfall on Road No. 1 in Bachupally, Mallampet Road, near Silver Oaks International High School. The drainage system frequently gets blocked during light rain, prompting residents to demand a permanent solution ahead of the rainy season.

While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Srikanth, a resident of KRCR Colony, said, “The situation on Road No. 1 is terrible as it is completely filled with drainage and rainwater. Even with a small amount of rain, our road is flooded with drainage water backing up onto our street. This issue requires immediate attention as water is flowing into the buildings, and we are facing serious problems.”

Urgent Need for Drainage Repairs Amidst Road Extension Works

Srikanth explained that the extension works on the main road in our area have damaged the central drainage, and the repairs were neglected. This has led to a severe drainage blockage. As a result, drainage water mixes with rainwater, causing stagnant pools and breeding grounds for mosquitoes. This is not just an inconvenience; it’s a health hazard that needs to be addressed immediately.

“It’s becoming a nightmare to cross the KRCR double road to the main road, especially for two-wheelers driven by women. They are helpless during the rain. Our colony residents have already raised this complaint many times. It’s very difficult to drive through this water; even four-wheelers are getting damaged. Authorities should take necessary action against this,” said Srikanth.

“Vijaya Lakshmi Subba Rao, the corporator, promptly addressed the concerns raised by residents and diligently escalated the matter to the commissioner for further attention. The Commissioner of Nizampet took the issue seriously and responded to our plea by forwarding it to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority for their attention. It is currently pending at the HMDA. We are seeking a permanent solution to this issue and hope for a quick resolution,” requested Srikanth.
