Kapra Lake Revival Group to organise a cleanup on June 16

Kapra Lake Cleanup Event June16 2024

Hyderabad: The Kapra Lake Revival Group is organizing a clean-up on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the Kapra Immersion Pond in Secunderabad. The clean-up event is exclusively for NSS volunteers of the Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology (SNIST).

Manognya, a volunteer with the Kapra Lake Revival Group, mentioned that the water level at Kapra Lake is currently very low, and there is a lot of waste in the lake, such as plastic and clothes. She emphasized that this is the best time to remove the waste from the lake bed, and the group is working on covering small portions based on the available time.

Manognya further shared, “As a citizen-driven group, we reach out to other groups or organizations, such as schools and colleges. The cyclist groups have been a huge help. They participate and help us spread the word. We have reached out to A Waste Project and ENY Impacts. BioReform helps us with biodegradable bags. TCS was the first large MNC to reach out to us to support the cause. Together we can achieve more!”

Manognya remembered that several cleanup drives took place this summer, including a Marathon cleanup on May 25 and 26. Almost 175 volunteers participated in these two days. The Kapra Lake Revival Group collaborated with the following organizations for the cleanup: A Waste Project, Bio Reform, Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, Happy Hyderabad, Relief Riders, Fenko MaTt, Bhavan’s NCC and NSS cadets, and Sreenidhi College of Science and Technology NSS volunteers. TCS is also supporting the marathon cleanup through HOPE – Hours of Purpose by Employees.
