‘We make films for audience, not for records’: Kalki 2898 AD producer Swapna Dutt

Hyderabad: While Prabhas’s magnum opus Kalki 2898AD goes on to smash all the records, the producers of the film say that they do not make movie for records but for the audience and for the love of cinema.

“Its very amazing that people are calling or asking, did we cross records? Its hilarious because guys who create or create records never make films for the records. We make for the audience. We make for the love of cinema. We did the same,” said one of the producers for Kalki 2898 AD Swapna Dutt Chalasani in a statement on her social media accounts.

However, the records are being broken by the Kalki 2898 AD team whether the producers want it or not. On the first day the movie has managed to make an historic box office opening with a massive 191.50 Cr worldwide on day one.

Earlier today, Cinematography minister, Komatireddy Venkatreddy watched Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD along with his family in a theatre in Hyderabad. The minister was all praises for the film and its cast and crew and encouraged everyone to watch the movie.

Kalki producers requested for price hike before the release of the movie

While on one hand, they are not interested in records, the production company, Vyjayanthi movies has also approached the Telangana government requesting to allow the price hike and additional shows for the movie.

In this regard, the Telangana government also released an official order dated June 22, in which, it said that “Government after careful examination of the matter here by permit M/s Vyjayanthi movies to allow 6th show i.e., special show at 5:30 am on June 2, 2024 with enhanced rate by Rs.200 including GST. Government hereby also permit 5 shows for a period of 8 days from June 27th to July 4, 2024 in all the released theatres in Telangana state for movie Kalki 2898 AD and also permit to hike rates by Rs.75 for the single screen theatres and Rs.100 for Multiplex theatres respectively all across the state of Telangana for the said days.”
