Final Count: Hyderabad reports lowest voter turnout in the state

Hyderabad: The city of Hyderabad turned out to be the constituency to record lowest voter turnout in the state among the 17 parliamentary constituencies that went for the polls on Monday, May 13, 2024.

Meanwhile, Telangana state as a whole, recorded a voter turnout of 66.3 percent, as per the latest data released by Chief Election officer Vikas Raj on Tuesday. According to the information released by the ECI, a total of 2,20,24,806 voters were there in the state, of which 3,32,16,348 electors participated in voting, which is 66.3% of the total electorate.

It was further said that out of 2,20,24,806 voters, 2,18,14,035 voters cast their votes at 35,809 Polling Stations and the rest 2,10,771 voters exercised their franchise in Voter Facilitation Centers, Postal Voting Centers and Home Voting.

The highest and the lowest

The highest 76.78% of votes polled in Bhongir Parliamentary Constituency and lowest is 48.48% in Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency.

Bhongir is closely followed by Khammam at 76.09, and next Medak at 75.09, Zaheerabad at 74.63, Adilabad at 74.03, Nalgonda at 74.02, Karimnagar at 72.54, Mahbubnagar at 72.43, Nizamabad at 71.92, Mahbubabad at 71.85, Nagar Kurnool at 69.46, Warangal at 68.86, Bhongir at 62.05, Pedapalle at 66.87, Chevella at 56.50, Malkajgiri at 50.78,and Secunderabad at 49.04 respectively.

In terms of percentage, the highest poll percentage of 84.25% is recorded in Narsapur Assembly Segment of Medak Parliamentary Constituency and lowest of 42.76% is recorded in Malakpet Assembly segment of Hyderabad parliamentary constituency.

In terms of numbers, highest 3,85,149 votes are polled in Medchal Assembly Segment of Malkajgiri Parliamentary Constituency and least number of 1,05,383 are polled in Bhadrachalam Assembly Segment of Mahabubabad Parliamentary Constituency.

CEO Vikas Raj informed that all polled material including EVMs are sealed in the presence of Observers, contesting candidates and election agents and stored safely at strong rooms, which is under constant monitoring by CCTV and armed forces.

Further Vikas Raj added that counting of all polled voters will take place on June 4 at 34 counting locations in the state under cover of CCTV in the presence of counting observers, contesting candidates, election agents and counting agents.
