Hyderabad faces water disruption for urgent repairs

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) announced water supply disruptions in parts of Hyderabad on Thursday. This disruption is necessary due to urgent repairs required for the NRV valve of the second pump at the Kodandapur pump house, a vital component of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phase-II.

“The water supply will be temporarily stopped to address unforeseen repair needs for the NRV valve,” informed the HMWSSB.

The emergency repair work will impact several areas under the jurisdiction of O&M Divisions 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10(A), 10(B), 13, 14, 16, and 20. Residents in these areas can expect complete water disruption on Thursday.

“While some locations will experience a complete shutdown, others might face partial disruption or receive water at lower pressure,” clarified the HMWSSB.

The affected areas include NPA, Miralam, Balapur, Mysaram, Barkas, Bhojagutta, Allabanda, Mekalamandi, Bholakpur, Chilakala Guda, Tarnaka, Lalapet, Buddha Nagar, Maredpally, Control Room, Railways, MES, Cantonment, and Prakash Nagar.

The additional affected areas are Patigadda, Hasmat Pet, Ferozeguda, Gautam Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, BN Reddy Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Autonagar, Alkapuri Colony, Mahindra Hills, Elugutta, Rappur, Uppal, Nacharam, Habsiguda, Chilka Nagar, Birappagadda, Budvel, Shastripuram, Mir Pet, Badung Pet, Shamshabad.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has assured citizens that the repair work is being prioritised for a swift resumption of normal water supply. They urge residents in the affected areas to use water in less quantity during this period.
