Hyderabad student's wife seeks emergency visa after Chicago robbery attack

HYDERABAD: Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi, the wife of a Hyderabad student subjected to a violent robbery in Chicago, has urgently reached out to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) seeking assistance in obtaining an emergency visa.

Her plea aims to facilitate her and her three minor children’s journey to the United States of America (USA) to be by her husband’s side during this challenging time.

Syed Mazahir Ali, a Mehdipatnam resident pursuing a Master’s in Information Technology (IT) at Indiana Wesleyan University, became the target of a harrowing attack by four robbers on February 5, 2024.

As recounted by Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi, her husband was ambushed by the robbers while returning from picking up his dinner, leaving him deeply traumatized by the experience.

Expressing grave concern for her husband’s extensive injuries sustained during the assault, Razvi voiced apprehensions about his ongoing safety in Chicago. She implored the MEA to swiftly intervene and extend aid to her husband.

The shocking assault on the Hyderabad student has sent shockwaves throughout the country, underscoring the pressing need for enhanced safety measures for Indian students pursuing education abroad.
