Hyderabad police seize 800 Ganja chocolates

MADHURANAGAR: Going hard against the drug menace in Hyderabad, city police nabbed two ganja peddlers in different cases and seized contraband from the accused. Police informed the media on Saturday.

In the first case police detected Ganja in the form of chocolates. The ganja peddler Mohd Majid was procuring these Ganja chocolates from Uttar Pradesh through courier services and selling it illegally in Hyderabad city.

With a tip off, south east zone task force of Hyderabad commissionerate intercepted a two wheeler and upon checking detected the accused was in possession of Ganja Chocolates. “On Thursday the joint operation team, Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone Team along with Kanchanbagh Police on credible information intercepted a Two Wheeler in front of his house in Hafeez Baba Nagar, Hyderabad under the limits of Kanchanbagh Police Station and apprehended one person who is in possession of large quantity of Chocolates which are containing contraband Ganja” said Hyderabad police in a official statement.

Further the police recovered 800 Ganja Chocolates packed in 20 packets, each packet contains 40 chocolates. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused procured 4 Kgs of Ganja Chocolates for a Rs. 8,000 from contact named Rajan Singh from Uttar Pradesh through courier and kept in his two wheeler and selling each chocolate for a Rs. 40 for customers and gaining huge money illegally, added Hyderabad police. Kanchanbagh Police Station arrested the accused and booked a case and further investigation is underway.

Ganja addict turns peddler

In another case, Ganja addict turned peddler B. Satya Sai was arrested by Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) along with Madhura nagar Police on Saturday.

The investigation revealed that B. Satya Sai hails from Kukatpally, later he shifted to Madhuranagar, Hyderabad and became addicted to Ganja consumption.

During one of his visits to Palavancha, Badradri Dist, he came in contact with a person Vinod who used to sell Ganja and earn money. Subsequently he got attracted to the huge profits and ventured into illegal business. He turned into a ganja peddler. Investigation revealed that since 2022 he has been involved in consumption of Ganja, later he started to procure the same and sold it to the consumers of Hyderabad at an exorbitant price to earn huge profit.

With credible information apprehended B. Satya Sai, local Ganja peddler who was in the possession of two kgs of Ganja. Madhuranagar police of Hyderabad commissionerate booked the accused under NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation is underway.

Hyderabad Traffic police cracks down on school vehicle violations

Hyderabad: In a special drive against the vehicle plying school children, Hyderabad Traffic Police has cracked a whip against vehicles carrying school children in excess of the capacity and also the vehicle condition in Hyderabad City.

On Thursday Hyderabad traffic police identified 406 Auto rickshaw drivers not wearing proper uniform , 95 auto rickshaw carrying excess school children, 57 cases where school children were sitting beside the driver, 11 auto rickshaw drivers without driving licence, and 11 auto rickshaw without documents.

Most concerning is the wrong side driving. Traffic police have found 40 auto rickshaw drivers driving on the wrong side. Wrong side driving led to one of the most causes of accidents reported in the last few years.

“We have formed special teams which will conduct a special drive in the morning from 07.30 a.m to 09.30 a.m. and in the evening from 03.00 p.m. to 05.00 p.m.” Hyderabad Traffic police in an official statement. Further they added, Special focus is kept on the Auto Rickshaws without fitness certificates, without driving licence, drunken drive, overloading (more than 6 children of 12 years and below in 3 passenger Auto Rickshaw and 8 children in 4 passenger Auto Rickshaw), minor driving, and other violations.

These special teams will also hold a meeting with school management and counsel the parents who are carrying extra children on their two-wheelers and explain to them about the security and safety of school children.

Hyderabad Traffic Police appealed to all the parents not to send their children in a vehicle carrying more than the seating capacity. “Transporting Children in an overloaded vehicle is a clear violation of Traffic rules. This endangers the lives of children,” said Hyderabd traffic police.

Further they requested the school managements and parents to check the validity of documents -Driving Licence of Driver, Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate and Fitness Certificate- of vehicles before engaging such vehicles for sending children to the Schools. They are also requested to verify the antecedents / behavior of the driver.
