Hyderabad police nab two chain snatchers, recovers Rs.2 lakh worth goods

HYDERABAD: Bikers snatching away chains from women, has become a rampant problem in the city. In a development in such cases, two bike-borne chain snatchers nabbed by the South-East Zone Team task force on Saturday. The police recovered the snatched Gold chain and handed it over to the victim.

The men Garala Prasad Goud, aged 24 years old and Vadtyavath Ganesh, aged 21 years, both dancers hatched a plan to commit chain snatching for easy money. While Garla Prasad hails from Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district, Ganesh hails from Saroor Nagar in Rangareddy district.

The probe revealed that Vadtyavath Ganesh who works in a ride-hailing platform conducted scouting and identified some isolated places at IS Sadan area to commit offences.

Snatches chain and dissappears

On 16 April during the evening hours at around 7:30, they found one woman who was walking alone at IS Sadan. Taking advantage of the absence of a passerby, the accused followed her, and forcibly snatched Gold chain from the woman’s neck and disappeared from the spot.

The victim approached the IS Sadan police and lodged a complaint with them. The police booked a case under 392 IPC(Robbery) and started investigation. The task force jumped into action and hobbed in on the accused and took them into custody and handed them to IS Sadan police for further investigation. The police have recovered the snatched Gold chain weighing about 9.9 Grams and the two wheeler (Honda Activa 6G) used to commit the offence and two mobile phones (Redmi and Vivo mobiles) all worth around two lakhs from the accused. The IS Sadan police arrested the accused and further investigation is underway.

Chain snatching is one of the rampant problems in the city, which has left many women in fear as they step out on the road for work. Police are also taking stringent measures to eradicate this menace.
