Madhapur Inspector comes under scrutiny for Birthday celebration near Cable Bridge

Cyberabad: While the birthday celebrations were restricted on the city’s cable bridge at Durgam Cheruvu, Madhapur Inspector of police, Cyberabad commissionerate G Mallesh came under scrutiny after his pictures celebrating a birthday near the cable bridge went viral on social media. Netizens started questioning how police could perform an act that is restricted for the common public.

However, in a recent statement released by G Mallesh, Madhapur Inspector of police, he said that the celebrations took place on the footpath and not on the bridge. “One photo of a birthday celebration circulating in the media. That is not on the main road of the cable bridge, it is on the footpath. I am collecting related photos that will be shared very soon,” added the statement.

The police Inspector further clarified that he and his friends did not stop vehicles on the cable bridge, emphasizing that the celebration took place on the footpath. He suggested that while it is permissible to celebrate birthdays on the footpath, one should not obstruct traffic on the bridge.

Earlier last month, a vehicle ploughed into two people who were taking selfies on Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge leading to death of one and leaving another with serious injuries. This accidented prompted the police to issue restrictions on the cable bridge.

In its latest order released by Dr Vineeth, Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhapur on 16 April, 2024 issued prohibitory orders in respect to movement of vehicles on Durgam Cheruvu cable Bridge.

According to the notification, stopping of vehicle in the middle of the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge, Madhapur for taking photographs causing public inconvenience and Sitting/ Standing on the on the grills/ railing and roaming on the bridge other than the footpath causing inconvenience or annoyance or danger to the public. Hence the public were requested to avoid the same.

Further the Cyberabad police warned the public violating these orders would attract prosecution under section 76 of ‘The Hyderabad city police Act 1348 F’.
