Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing arrest two Drug peddlers with Hash Oil, LSD

HNEW apprehended drug peddlers

The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW), along with the Afzalgunj police, apprehended one interstate Drug peddler and one local peddler possessing Narcotic Drugs Hash Oil and LSD Blots based on credible information.

Background of the Arrests

A case (Crime No.163/2024) has been registered under sections 8(c) r/w 20(b)(ii)(C), 22(c), 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act – 1985, at the Afzalgunj police station, Hyderabad.

Profile of the Apprehended Drug Peddlers

The Interstate Drug Peddler, Bandaru Yaswanth @ Yashwanth, was born and raised in Chodavaram, Anakapally district. In 2014, he moved to Hyderabad for higher education and completed his B.Tech (CSC). During this period, he developed an addiction to consuming Ganja.

Subsequently, he became an event organiser and frequented tourist destinations like Goa, Kasol, Lambasingi, etc., where he observed individuals selling Ganja and Hash Oil for easy profit. He befriended these sellers and, since 2020, has been involved in the consumption and procurement of Ganja and Hash Oil from the surrounding areas of Aruku.

He sells these substances to consumers in Hyderabad and Goa to make easy money. Previously, he was arrested in an NDPS case at Chilkalguda police station, Hyderabad, along with six associates. A Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) is pending against him, and he is also absconding in Trimulgherry police station.

The local peddler, Karthik alias Pinku, is a native of Secunderabad. He completed his education in Hotel Management. During this time, he developed an addiction to Ganja and Hash Oil. While visiting various tourist spots and attending parties in Goa and Kasol, he established contacts with drug peddlers. To earn quick money, he began procuring Ganja and Hash Oil from Bandaru Yashwanth and LSD from Romy, a resident of Goa who was arrested by Panjagutta PS. He sells these substances to consumers at low prices to make easy money.

The police have issued an advisory, stating that in recent times, several youths/students have become addicted to drugs/Ganja, leading to increased crime and involvement in other anti-social activities. Many families have been affected by this menace. HNEW, Hyderabad city police, earnestly requests youths/students not to succumb to drugs/Ganja and urges parents to monitor their children’s activities closely. The police encouraged the public to approach the police or provide information via phone (No.8712661601) to help curb such anti-social activities and work towards a drug-free city.

The above arrests were made under the supervision of S. Rashmi Perumal, Dy. Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force I/c HNEW, Hyderabad, by Inspectors K. Srinivas & G.S. Daniel, and SI of Police C.Venkata Ramulu and staff of HNEW, along with Inspector G. Lingeshwar Rao and staff of Afzalgunj police station, Hyderabad.
