‘Lathi charge police’ video goes viral, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi reacts

Hyderabad Lathi Charge Police

Hyderabad: On Monday, a video went viral on social media, where the patrolling vehicle of the Hyderabad police can be heard saying, rather giving a warning that no one should not be seen on the roads after 11pm in the area, if violated, they would be prone to punishments and lathi charge. Further told that “no friendly police, but lathi charge police’

This video was shared by several people on social media and went viral. People reacted to the same. A netizen said, “Is this the way police interact with citizens? What kind of respect will they expect from the citizens? Give respect and take respect. We are all humans and we do not want such outrageous statements from the Police. Why have we given vote to Asad Sahab and Revanth Reddy for this???”

Will such an announcement be made in Jubilee Hills, questions Owaisi

Giving a strong counter to the way police were heard interacting with the public in that video, the elected member of Parliament, Asaduddin Owaisi took to X and questioned the Hyderabad police for such behaviour.

In a statement, Owaisi said, “.@TelanganaDGP @CPHydCity could such an announcement be made by police in Jubilee Hills? Whether they are Irani chai hotels or pan shops or commercial establishments, they should be allowed to remain open till 12 AM at least. In any case, there should be a uniform policy across the board. Big metros across the country allow shops to be open in the night. There’s already an economic downturn. Why is it different in Hyderabad?”

Earlier, an unofficial statement circulated on social media stating that all the commercial establishments should be closed down by 11pm. However, there is no official statement on it so far. This has resulted in mixed reactions from the citizens, wondering how can a metropolitan city like Hyderabad closes at 11pm.
