HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, spearheading a movement for active mobility, urges citizens to use healthier and greener modes of transportation in the city of Hyderabad.

The initiative advocates walking for short distances, cycling for medium distances and using public buses and metros for longer journeys to promote sustainable urban living.

The members of this revolution are passionate about active mobility, which is reflected in their everyday activities, such as shopping or commuting to work. On various social media platforms, many of them have shared their experiences and successes, which have inspired the whole city.

Cyclists

The change is noticeable: More and more people are daring to walk or cycle when they need to get somewhere nearby. This message was reinforced when some IT professionals began to share their own experiences on the metro or bus.

The initiative led by Santhana Selvan, the bicycle mayor of Hyderabad, emphasises that active mobility is the ultimate solution to the city’s transport-related problems.

The goal of the Hyderabad Cycling Revolution 4.0 is to encourage 1 crore residents of Hyderabad to adopt active mobility, with a focus on walking for distances less than 1 km, cycling for distances less than 5 km, and using public transport for distances greater than 5 km.

The Active Mobility campaign in Hyderabad, will span over five months with the aim of reaching 1 crore residents. The solution is simple but effective: walk short distances, cycle to distant places and use public transport for longer distances. This collective effort is a milestone on the road to a greener and healthier Hyderabad.
