Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, in collaboration with the Telangana Government, is organizing a distinctive ‘Musi River Heritage Ride’ scheduled for July 6 (Sunday). The event aims to delve into the cultural significance of the Musi River in Hyderabad city.

The initiative, supported by a coalition including A Waste Project, BEYOND HYD ERABAD, Fly Higher, bio reform, KAPRA LAKE REVIVAL GROUP, FenkOMaTe, Dha3R, and EARTH NEEDS YOU, urges individuals to participate and collaborate with the government to rejuvenate the Musi River, which is crucial for Hyderabad’s well-being.

While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Ravi Sambari, co-founder of Hyderabad Cycling Revolution (HCR) and core member of (HCR), highlighted the initiative’s significance, saying, “Every Saturday, we plan to visit one heritage site, and this week, our focus is on the Musi River, aiming to promote Hyderabad’s rich cultural heritage.”

He said the Musi Nadi plogging and cleanup ride is a collaborative effort to revitalize the Musi River through a unique combination of physical activity and environmental stewardship.

“Participants will gather at the designated starting point opposite High Court Gate 1 at 6:00 a.m. on July 6, 2024. The event involves ‘plogging,’ a blend of jogging or cycling while picking up litter along the riverbanks and designated routes. This initiative not only aims to clean up the river and its surroundings but also fosters community engagement and raises awareness about the detrimental effects of pollution on water bodies,” said Ravi.

Expected to attract over 150 participants, the event encourages active mobility, promoting cycling, running, carpooling, or the use of public transport. It is supported by local communities, environmental organizations, and government agencies, emphasizing collective action towards sustainable river management.
