Hyderabad: A picture criticising HDFC Bank for ‘Mental Torture’ is going viral online, reflecting the frustration of a customer named Sai Teja.

Sai Teja, the customer shared his terrible experience attempting to open an account for his brother through HDFC Bank.

While speaking to Hyderabad Mail, Teja stated he received an email allowing him to open an account for his brother and completed the online video KYC process on June 10th, 2024. However, issues arose when linking the account to a family plan.

“Despite calling three times and visiting the branch, I was told the relationship manager (RM) could only raise the request,” Teja said. “The RM claimed to have submitted the request, but it required approval from a manager who was unavailable.”

Teja expressed his dissatisfaction with HDFC’s reliance on individual staff availability. “If services depend on a single person, customers should be informed via email when delays occur due to staff unavailability,” he argued.

While Teja’s brother received an email requesting consent for account mapping on June 12th, 2024, and provided it within minutes, the mapping process remains incomplete. “Stop sending emails to open accounts if this is the case. Don’t cause mental strain to customers,” Teja urged HDFC Bank.

Teja highlighted the inconsistency in service, mentioning his mother’s account opening experience, which was completed swiftly within 20 minutes. “This is the worst service from a reputed bank like HDFC Bank,” Teja remarked. “Opening and mapping the account took three business days, which is unacceptable.”

Teja further noted differences in the login process. “The secure image and login URL appear for my account but not for my brother’s,” he said. He also highlighted that this is a fourth-grade service from HDFC.
