Missing gold ornaments at Shamshabad Airport

HYDERABAD: Gold ornaments worth ₹ 7 lakhs have gone missing from passengers’ luggage at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. Following this incident, passengers registered a case at RGI Airport police station.

A 43-year-old businessman named Manchi Kutla Hari Sagar from Khajaguda, Raidurgam has filed a complaint about the disappearance of valuable gold ornaments from the luggage of his 40-year-old sister-in-law, Rajini Samala, and his 70-year-old mother, Shakunthala.

“On May 3, the family members of Sagar left their home in Khajaguda and went to RGI Airport in Shamshabad to take connecting flights to Mumbai and then to New York. They took an Air India flight from RGI Airport to Mumbai on May 3 and then transferred to another Air India flight headed to New York on May 4.” said RGI Airport police.

Police further said that, When they arrived in New York, they found that a blue bag with gold and silver items had been tampered with. Three of the boxes in the bag were empty, except for earrings in one and different items in a silver box.

They mentioned that, one of the boxes, which contained gold ornaments and diamond necklaces weighing around 350 grams, was notably missing. The value of the missing gold ornaments is estimated to be ₹ 7 lakhs.

After receiving distressing news by phone, Sagar reported to the RGI Airport Police station. Suspecting foul play during their transit at RGI Airport, Sagar has requested the police to take required action. A case has been filed under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and police are investigating the case.
