‘Retired employee not getting benefits’: GHMC SC/ST Employees lament

Hyderabad: The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) employees working in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have met Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi with their grievances and requested to resolve them. One of the main concerns include retired employees not receiving their pensionary benefits post retirement.

Raising this issue in a format representation letter, the SC/ST employees Welfare Association said that retired employees have not taken their pensionary benefits after retirement in time. It was also alleged that the staff and officers are not focussing properly and are leaving the encashment files, which is resulting in the delay.

It was further said that several employees have given representation to the commissioner of GHMC before, however, it remained pending and their grievances were not disposed of.

Further it was also mentioned that on some of the employees disciplinary cases are also pending and the association requested to conduct enquiry immediately and give promotions to the eligible employees immediately and release pending benefits.

Compassionate appointments pending

It was also added that Compassionate appointments files are not being disposed of in time which is pending, which lead to suffering of legal heirs. The SC/ST employee welfare association requested to focus on this issue and help the deceased family.

Further the promotions of the qualified Class- IV employees to Record Assistant, Record Assistant to Junior Assistant, Junior Assistant to Senior Assistants, Senior Assistants to Superintendents and Superintendents to Assistant Municipal Commissioners is also pending. They have also requested for the transfers for three years completed officers and staff and long standing, transfer for medical grounds, transfers for mutual applications submitted by the employees.

The employees association has requested the Mayor to give suitable instructions to the concerned officer for disposing the issues immediately. The Mayor has responded positively and said that she would look into the issue.
