Fruit vendor dies of electrocution near Bahadurpura X road

Death In Bahadurpura due to electrocution

HYDERABAD: A fruit vendor, aged 49, in Hyderabad’s Bahadurpura area was died of electrocution on Tuesday, following heavy rainfall in parts of Telangana. Ahmed Khan s/o Khaja Miya was electrocuted when he touched an electric pole for support while crossing a flooded road, near Varun Motors.

At first, passerby ignored him, mistaking his condition by assuming he was drunk. But later, they alerted the Bahadurpura Police, who arranged for him to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, upon arrival, medical professionals pronounced him dead due to electrocution. He was a daily wage laborer at a banana storage godown in Bahadurpura, Hyderabad.

“Power to the pole was switched off, and Ahmed’s body was recovered by the police,” said Inspector R. Raghunath, Bahadurpura Police Station, Hyderabad.

The CCTV camera on the footpath captured the incident, showing a man crossing a flooded road, touching a pole, and then abruptly falling to the ground. The video has since spread widely across social media platforms.

To prevent the risk of electrocution, refrain from approaching electric poles or power lines during rainy weather. Water tends to gather around these structures, heightening the danger. Steer clear of waterlogged surfaces and opt for footwear with rubber soles to minimize the risk of electrical accidents.
