Hyderabad, Telangana
Members of the North Hyderabad Development Forum and Medchal Metro Sadhana Samithi have taken a proactive step towards addressing the neglect faced by the northern part of the city. On Tuesday, they submitted a representation to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, urging him to allocate land for the development of a FinTech City in North Hyderabad area.
Highlighting the stark contrast in development between the thriving western part of the city and the underserved north, the representatives emphasized the need for equal opportunities and infrastructure. While areas like Hitech City, Gachibowli, and Madhapur flourish, the northern part remains lagging behind.
Inspired by successful models like Silicon Valley and Gujarat’s GIFT City, the proposal suggests transforming the northern part of Hyderabad into a Financial Technology City (FinTech City). This initiative aims to foster breakthroughs, cutting-edge technology, and a bustling business ecosystem.
“We have submitted a presentation to the State government, urging them to allocate land and invest in critical basic infrastructure for the FinTech City initiative,” stated a member of the North Hyderabad Development Forum. “This visionary step will attract investments, drive economic growth, and position North Hyderabad as a global innovation and financial powerhouse.”
Local Initiatives Aim to Bridge Development Gap
Furthermore, with a wealth of talent from prestigious colleges and universities in various fields, including engineering, management, and pharmaceuticals, North Hyderabad is primed to become a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. Establishing the FinTech City will also ignite the vibrant startup culture among the youth, providing ample employment opportunities.
The representatives also stressed the need to alleviate the overcrowding in Hitech City by spreading development to other areas like the underdeveloped North of Hyderabad. They advocated for the extension of the metro rail network till Medchal to improve connectivity and accessibility.
The call for the development of a FinTech City in North Hyderabad reflects the community’s aspirations for balanced growth and prosperity, ensuring that all residents benefit from the city’s progress.

Hyderabad: Residents of Diamond City Colony in Suleman Nagar Ward, Rajendra Nagar are facing sanitation issues due to the delay in open drain works and irregular garbage collection. The monsoon season has heightened their concerns as stagnant water and overflowing garbage pose a significant risk of diseases like dengue, malaria, and cholera. The residents urge the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to expedite the completion of open drain works and ensure regular garbage collection to prevent a potential health crisis in the area.
While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Syed, also known as Shaandaar and an admin of the @swachhhyd Twitter page, said, ‘The open drain works, which began three months ago, have progressed at a snail’s pace, causing frustration among residents.”
Shaandaar criticized the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for its slow progress, stating, “The works are proceeding at a tortoise’s pace.” He also mentioned that there is no update regarding when they will resume the halted work.
Syed further highlighted the safety hazards associated with incomplete drains. “There are no barricades or caution boards around the open drains, which could lead to accidents,” he said, pointing to the tragic incidents of children falling into open drains across Telangana.
Taking to a social media platform, ‘X,’ previously known as Twitter, Shaandaar Hyderabad (@swachhhyd), tagged relevant officials and expressed his concerns, and revealed the pictures. He posted, “Status of works by friendly agency of @GHMCOnline after 3 months. Works in tortoise mode, which is very slow. @CommissionrGHMC.”

Hyderabad residents demand road repairs, trash removal in SR Nagar, Ameerpet

Hyderabad: Residents in SR Nagar, BK Guda, and Ameerpet are fuming over the deplorable condition of their local roads. Extensive potholes and damaged surfaces have made daily commutes a nightmare for motorists and pedestrians.
The situation is particularly severe along the stretch connecting SR Nagar and Ameerpet, where roads near computer training institutes have significantly deteriorated. Overflowing garbage accumulating along the roadside due to a lack of proper collection has compounded residents’ woes. This stagnant trash raises concerns about the potential spread of seasonal diseases.
Fearing for their safety, residents have demanded immediate action from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, MA Ahmed, a resident, said, “Our primary requests include patchwork repairs to address the immediate dangers posed by the dilapidated roads. We are concerned about accidents, particularly for two-wheeler riders who may lose control due to skids on uneven surfaces.”
Residents have also urged the GHMC to implement a more efficient sanitation system to prevent further trash buildup. They fear stagnant water accumulating around the garbage can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other insects, posing a public health risk.

Unlaid stretch on Dattatreya Nagar Road creates inconvenience for pedestrians, residents

Hyderabad: A newly constructed cement concrete road project in Shaikpet has become a source of frustration for residents due to a neglected 50-70 meter stretch left unlaid for the past six months. This missing link between Dattatreya Nagar and Sita Nagar Basthi Dawakhana creates a nightmarish commute for pedestrians and motorists alike.
Large potholes and stagnant water have filled the unlaid portion, causing unsanitary conditions and posing a safety hazard. Residents, especially those using the road to reach the nearby urban primary health care center (UPHC), have expressed immense inconvenience due to the incomplete project.
While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Ajay Kumar Maryala, a social activist from Shaikpet, brought the issue to light, saying, “The crossroads connecting Sita Nagar, Dattatreya Nagar, Vinobha Nagar, and O.U Colony is a crucial intersection where the Shaikpet UPHC is situated. This unfinished stretch forces commuters to navigate a path riddled with potholes and stagnant water, creating a filthy and hazardous environment.”
Ajay Kumar Maryala further said the importance of the unlaid section as it serves as the main entry point to Dattatreya Nagar, Manikonda, and O.U Colony from Dattatreya Nagar. He expressed disappointment at the lack of response from authorities despite bringing the matter to the attention of the Assistant Engineer (AE), Executive Engineer (EE) of Jubilee Hills, and even the Deputy Commissioner of Jubilee Hills.
Ajay said, “No action has been taken, not even temporary measures like grading the road or filling the potholes. It’s shocking how officials can neglect such a serious public inconvenience caused by potholes on major roads and junctions.”
Concerns are mounting about the upcoming Bonalu festival in Shaikpet this July, celebrated only once every two years. Ajay Maryala urged the GHMC Deputy Commissioner and Zonal Commissioner to intervene and expedite the completion of the road project before the festivities begin.
