FALAKNUMA: Despite more than a month passing, residents of the Jahanuma area in Falaknuma, Hyderabad, continue to receive contaminated water. They approached the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to complain about the issue and even reported cases of their children falling ill after consuming the water.

A complaint was lodged under #3700 on March 21, 2024. However, as of April 10, 2024, residents of the Jahanuma water tank area are still receiving the same contaminated water. They alleged that despite numerous complaints, no action has been taken to resolve the issue.

Resident Khaja Hameed Uddin took to ‘X’ on March 21, stating, “Sir, today’s water supplied in the Jahanuma area of Falaknuma is very dirty and has a foul smell. Please send your technician for water testing, as it appears dirty yellow.”

In response, HMWSSB replied, “Good evening, sir. Thank you for sharing the details. Complaint with token number 3700 has been registered and forwarded to the concerned M.R.G.FILTERS Section Manager. We will rectify it as soon as possible. Thank you.”

Another resident, Naseer Hussain, reported on ‘X’ on April 10, 2034, stating, “To date, @HMWSSBOnline has not addressed complaint #3700 lodged on March 21, and we continue to receive contaminated water in the Jahanuma water tank area.”

HMWSSB responded, saying, “Good Morning, Sir. The complaint has been registered under token number 2784. We will forward it to the concerned officials @hmwssbgmom1 @hmwssbdgmcbdari. M.R.G.FILTERS Section Manager will rectify it ASAP. Thank you.”

Nasser Hussain had previously reported his daughter’s illness after drinking the contaminated water and demanded immediate relief from the contaminated water in their area. He said, “We are being forced to buy water from outside mainly during Ramzan and this is cruelty. We hope this issue is resolved asap.”
