Pharmaceutical Company Caught Selling Unauthorized Drugs in Hyderabad

  1. Hyderabad: officials from Drugs Control Administration(DCA) seized stocks worth Rs. 23.93 lakhs from the pharmaceutical company named Ovoid Pharmachem Pvt. Ltd. in Jeedimetla, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, due to fraudulent activity.

Officials found 19 drums containing 87 kg of Itraconazole 35% pellets, 800 kg of Activated Charcoal 250 mg and Simethicone 80 mg Pellets, all manufactured without the required drug license, as per a release.

Upon verification of DCA, Telangana licensing database on the ODLS (Online Drug Licensing System) Portal, it has been confirmed that Ovoid Pharmachem Pvt. Ltd. created a fake drug licence for certain drug products and subsequently sold them under the fraudulent license.

A police case has been filed against Narasapally Ramudu, Director of Ovoid Pharmachem Pvt. Ltd., under Sections 420 (Cheating) and 468 (Forgery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Jeedimetla Police Station for creating a forged Drug Manufacturing license

Manufacturing and selling pharmaceuticals using fake licenses poses a serious risk to public health and safety. Therefore, DCA, Telangana, warned all pharmaceutical manufacturers and stakeholders against forging drug licenses, stating that it is a serious offense with severe consequences.
