Commuters Struggle With Poor Roads, Sewage Overflow In Tolichowki

HYDERABAD: Residents and commuters navigating through Salarjung Colony in Tolichowki encounter significant challenges due to pressing issues such as deteriorating road conditions and sewage overflow. These hurdles have prompted many to seek alternate routes. Particularly, the stretch between Tolichowki and Langarhouse Road stands out for its dire condition, emerging as a hotspot for accidents, urging prompt maintenance.

While speaking to Hyderabad Mail, a concerned resident of Salarjung Colony, with the condition of anonymity pointed out the ongoing challenges in the area. The resident said that the locality is dealing with frequent sewage overflow and a lack of well-maintained tar roads for daily commuters. These issues also affect the adjacent lanes within Salarjung Colony, exacerbating the problem of inadequate road infrastructure.

The resident explained that the entire colony had its roads dug up initially for sewerage work, but unfortunately, new roads were not laid down afterward. Consequently, the community now contends with elevated levels of dust pollution, impacting the well-being of residents and commuters alike.

Expressing frustration, the resident said, “It’s ironic that despite the previous government’s efforts to resolve the sewerage issue in this lane, we still witness sewerage on the road. I fail to comprehend why the residents or the politicians involved are not taking steps to address these long-standing and critical issues.”

The resident added that if the road is repaired and proper sewers installed, many IT employees will choose to travel on this road, significantly decreasing traffic at the nearby junction (Nanal Nagar).

Noting the approaching rainy season, the resident said that commuters will suffer due to the poor roads and urged the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation authorities (GHMC) to take action before the rainy season.

TG Citizen took to Twitter and posted, “#flour mill #tolichowki @GHMCOnline @DRonaldRose @CommissionrGHMC. Unfortunately, we won’t see road here, #monsoon2024 about to enter today or tomorrow, if #teamghmc won’t act, commuters will literally suffer here! DC, ZC, supervisors who else, monitoring? @HiHyderabad #hyderabadrains.”
