Chilkuri priest angers over Google ‘misinformation’ for showing temple closed

Chilkur Balaji Temple Google Misinformation

Chilkur: Chilkur Balaji Temple priest, Rangarajan finds fault with the Google search engine for allegedly displaying the temple as ‘closed’ in its search results for the timings in weekends. Chilkur Balaji temple, also known as Visa Balaji temple is one of the famous temples in Hyderabad surroundings, located around 25 kilometres away from the city.

Reacting to the same, Rangarajan said that Chilkuri Balaji temple is open 365 days a year for all the devotees in its specified timings. “People are calling me and asking if the temple is closed, as Google is displaying that the temple is closed on Saturday and Sunday. This is misinformation, when we raised a complaint, Google said that we have to go and edit. It is the google that should edit, it is wrong to display wrong information. If it doesn’t know about something, it should say that the information is unavailable, but it should not show wrong information,” added the priest.

He further requested the visitors of his temple to send a message to Google asking them to ‘not to interfere’ in the temple matters, if they don’t know about it. “Google should only show maps, for further information, it should say it is unknown or unavailable, if it doesn’t know. Like this, it should not play with the sentiments of the public,” said the priest.

Hindutva users allege conspiracy by Google

Social media users have also raised the issue and said that it is a ‘conspiracy against Hindus’.
“Please share: – Chilkur Balaji Temple is open 365 days, google maps shows Sat and Sun closed(checked just now) – the weekday timings are also incorrect. Is this not an alarming conspiracy against Hindus who like to visit the temple during weekends?,” questioned a user.

Another user also asked Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google to interfere. “DEAR SUNDAR PICHAI, We strongly condemn Anti India and Anti Hindu practices of Google Liberal employees who may be in your organization. Ask from the People of India: Why is @GoogleIndia @googlemaps anti Hindu action showing Chilkur Balaji temple as closed on Saturday and Sunday. Dear Sundar and team, please act on it and don’t HURT RELIGIOUS SENTIMENTS OF PEOPLE OF INDIA. We are tagging the Prime Minister Office for Google India and Google YouTube being anti India and suppressing right wing YouTube videos to reduce their views and incorrect Google Maps.”

As of now, Google does not show the temple results as closed on the weekend, and the search engine seems to be updated.
