Cherlapalli Prisoners Job Mela

Hyderabad: For the first time ever, 222 premature release prisoners will be appearing in a Job mela and a counseling session at the Cherlapally Central Prison tomorrow i., on Wednesday. Among the prisoners, there are graduates and post graduates too, according to the Prison officials.

Speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, V Shashikanth, Deputy Superintendent of Jails, Central Prison Cherlapalli said that this move was initiated to create employment opportunities for the outgoing prisoners, who would be remitted prematurely. “There are educated prisoners as well, from 10th standard, graduation to post graduation, there are people who are qualified for the jobs. First candidates would be counseled by the experts and then the job mela with different companies would continue. We are yet to receive the final list of companies attending and the kind of job profile being offered. We hope to create employment opportunities through this event for the premature prisoners.”

The official further stated that this is the first time that the job mela is being happening at such a grand scale and this is after the government instructions to create employment opportunities for the prisoners.

The event would be organized at the Central Prison, Cherlapalli, Medchal-Malkajgiri district on July 3, 2024. This event would feature a fob mela and counseling session specifically designed to support and rehabilitate the prisoners selected for premature release by the Government of Telangana.

“This initiative aims to provide job opportunities and professional counseling to convict prisoners who have been selected for premature release, helping them reintegrate into society and lead predictive lives post release,” added an official note from the Santhosh Kumar Roy, Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison, Cherlapalli.

Prisoners releasing after Governor’s consent

Earlier, the Telangana Governor, CP Radhakrishnan consented for the remission of eligible prisoners. While this move was initiated originally by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) government, later on re-initiated by the Congress Government as well and got the Governor’s consent.
