Charminar removal from state symbol

Charminar:The decision to change the Telangana state logo met with backlash from the main opposition party in the state – Barath Rastra Samithi (BRS) on Thursday. The present state emblem has images of ‘Charminar’ and ‘Kakatiya kalathoranam’ and BRS held demonstrations at ‘Charminar’ and ‘Kakatiya kalathoranam’.

In the backdrop of the same, BRS working president KTR visited Charminar on Thursday. Speaking to the media he said, “Removing Charminar from State logo is like insulting every Hyderabadi. Kakatiya Kalatorana is a heritage of the Kakatiya Empire. We strongly condemn the government’s decision to remove Charminar and Kakatiya Kalatorana, which are symbols of Telangana’s heritage and culture, from the state logo”.

He further demanded that the present government shouldn’t act in such a way as to damage the self-esteem of the people and Telangana activists. And advised to work for the benefit of people as the congress is chosen to change people’s lives, to do good, to implement schemes and to keep promises.

BRS working president KTR took to his official X(formerly twitter) handle and posted, “World over, Charminar has been the icon/symbol of Hyderabad for centuries. When one thinks of Hyderabad, they cannot but think of Charminar which has all the qualities of a UNESCO world heritage site. Now the Congress Government wants to remove the iconic Charminar from the state Logo citing frivolous reasons. What a shame!!”

KTR in another post shared the picture of BRS leader protesting at Kakatiya Kalathoranam and said, “Our Warangal leaders protesting against the Government’s decision to remove the renowned “Kakatiya Kalathoranam” from the state logo. This is just the beginning”.

Chief minister handed over the job of designing the state emblem to Atrist Rudra Rajesham to replace the present emblem designed by Laxman Aelay. The government of Telangana is all set to unveil the new official state symbol and anthem during the Telangana formation day celebration on June 2. Considering it as a matter of pride, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy organized a grand celebration and invited Congress party chairperson Sonia Gandhi as the chief guest for the celebrations.
