Task Force Finds Multiple Violations At Blinkit Warehouse In Medchal

Hyderabad/Medchal Malkajgiri: The task force team inspects the Blinkit Warehouse at Devar Yamjal, Medchal Malkajgiri District, on Wednesday. They find the premises disorganized, unhygienic, and dusty, particularly at storage racks.

Cosmetic products are improperly stored with food items. Food handlers lack headgear, gloves, and aprons, and their medical fitness certificates are missing.

Expired food items found at Blinkit warehouse

The task force notes that no Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) trainee is available. Products manufactured by Kamakshi Foods, including Suji, Raw Peanut Butter, Maida, Poha, Besan, and Bajra worth Rs. 30k are seized for being expired. Suspected infested Whole Farm Ragi Flour and Toor Dal, valued at Rs. 52k are also seized. Later these samples are sent to the lab for further analysis. Recently Blinkit had partnered with Adidas India to deliver the official Team India fan jersey.

Additionally, the license of Whole Farm Congruence Trade and Services Pvt Ltd fails to comply with the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act regarding the address on the label. The task force is going to issue a notice and take further action as required. Blinkit must address these issues promptly to ensure compliance and maintain safety standards. We take safety and hygiene standards very seriously. We are closely working with our warehouse partner and the Food safety department to implement corrective actions from the findings,” said Blinkit spokesperson.

Similar incident at Big Basket warehouse

In a separate inspection on May 23, 2024, at the Big Basket warehouse in Masjid Banda, Kondapur, expired items such as chicken masala, chicken sausages, pizza cheese, paneer, ice creams, and almond fudge were discovered. Leaking edible oil contaminated other food articles on lower racks. Milk bottles, thick shake bottles, and sting tin bottles were improperly stored. Food and non-food items were found stored together. Due to these violations, a notice was issued, and the warehouse license was suspended until further orders.

Recently Task force team has been doing tremendous job by regularly inspecting several restaurants in Hyderabad. Which include Shadab, Kamat, Rayalaseema Ruchulu, Arabiana etc. Team also inspected at well-known bakery Swiss Castle and found violations at it.
