BJP MLA Raja Singh violates MCC, Hyderabad police books case under Suo Moto

HYDERABAD: A case has been booked against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Gosha Mahal MLA T Raja Singh for violating the Model Code of Conduct(MCC) of the ongoing Lok Sabha general elections 2024. The complaint was filed as a suo moto cognizance by the Sultan Bazaar Sub Inspector, G Madhusudhan Reddy on April 18, 2024.

According to the police, on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami, a Hindu festival, the Sultan Bazaar police were performing bandobast duties at Hanuman Vyayam Shala in Koti. Meanwhile, T Raja Singh came along with a rally of Sree Rama Procession to Hanuman Vyayam Shala and conducted a public meeting violating the model code of conduct that is set for the Lok Sabha elections. While it was supposed to finish by 10pm, the Raja Singh and other organisers went on to continue the speeches till 11:15pm and further created nuisance using loud DJ music as well.

As all these amount to violation of MCC, Raja Singh and others were booked under Section 188 and 290 of Indian Penal Code(IPC) and police are further investigating the case.

Earlier, Afzalgunj police have also booked Raja Singh in connection with the same situation for conducting the Ram Navami rally without obtaining necessary permissions on the same day, Wednesday, April 18, 2024. The political atmosphere in Hyderabad is heated up as it gears up for the Parliamentary elections. The Lok Sabha polls will be held in Telangana on May 13, 2024, while the results will be announced on June 4, 2024.
