Hyderabad Police issue traffic advisory for Bakrid prayers
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police have announced traffic diversions to ensure smooth traffic control and regulation during Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) prayers. The prayers will take place at Mir Alam Tank Eidgah and the Hockey Ground, Masab Tank, on Monday from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. These diversions aim to facilitate the movement of worshippers and minimize inconvenience to the general public.
Traffic diversions at Mir Alam Tank Eidgah
Vehicles of worshippers coming from Puranapul, Kamatipura, and Kishanbagh towards Eidgah, Mir Alam Tank, will be allowed through Bahadurpura X Roads from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. During this period, general traffic will be diverted at Bahadurpura X Roads towards Kishanbagh, Kamatipura, and Puranapul. Parking is available at Zoo Park and open space opposite Masjid Allah-ho-Akbar. Worshippers from Shivarampally and Danamma Huts will be allowed through Danamma Huts X Roads, with parking at Modern Saw Mill and Mir Alam filter bed. Vehicles from Kalapather will be allowed through Kalapather L&O PS, with parking at Bhayya Parking and Indian Oil Petrol bunk. General traffic will be diverted at Kalapather L&O PS towards Mochi Colony, Bhadurpura, Shamsheergunj, and Nawab Saheb Kunta.
Heavy vehicles, including RTC buses from Puranapul towards Bhadurpura, will be diverted at Puranapul Darwaza towards Jiaguda and City College side until the congregation disperses. Similarly, heavy vehicles from Shamshabad, Rajendra Nagar, and Milardevpally towards Bhadurpura will be diverted at Aramghar Junction towards Shamshabad, Rajendra Nagar, and Milardevpally sides until the prayers are concluded.
Traffic diversions at Masab Tank and Langar House area
Due to the prayers at the Hockey Ground, no vehicular traffic will be allowed under the Masab Tank flyover. Traffic will be rerouted from Mehdipatnam to Road No.1, Banjara Hills via Masab Tank, through the Masab Tank flyover, Ayodhya Junction, Khairatabad RTA Office, and Taj Krishna Hotel between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
Cars traveling from Lakdikapul to Masab Tank and headed for Road No.1/12 Banjara Hills will be rerouted at Ayodhya Junction to Nirankari, Khairatabad, VV Statue, and Taj Krishna Hotel. Traffic will not be allowed under the Masab Tank Flyover towards Road No.1, Banjara Hills until the prayers are completed. Vehicles from Road No.12, Banjara Hills will be diverted at Road No.1/12 Junction towards Taj Krishna Hotel. Traffic from NFCL Junction, Panjagutta towards Masab Tank will be diverted at Taj Krishna Hotel towards Erramanjil Colony, RTA Khairatabad, and Lakdikapul.
Traffic from Nanal Nagar towards Andhra Floor Mill will be diverted at Balika Bhavan Junction towards Laxminagar. Vehicles from MD Lines and Balika Bhavan will be diverted at Andhra Floor Mill towards Balika Bhavan or MD Lines. Traffic from Langar House towards Military Hospital will be diverted at Eidgha U Turn at Military Hospital towards Moghal Ka Nala.

The police request all citizens to take note of these diversions, use alternate routes, and cooperate to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Eid-ul-Zuha prayers.
CM Revanth Reddy reorganizes disaster management for Greater Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided to assign critical responsibilities to the Disaster Management Department within Greater Hyderabad. He has directed officials to implement structural changes and redistribute responsibilities accordingly. In a review meeting at the Secretariat on Monday evening, the Chief Minister discussed the reorganization with officials from Municipal Administration, HMDA, and Musi Development.
Expansion of disaster management responsibilities
Recognizing the geographic expansion of Hyderabad, the Chief Minister ordered the Disaster Management Department to extend its jurisdiction to the Outer Ring Road. He suggested including GHMC, 27 surrounding municipalities and corporations, and 33 gram panchayats within its service area. The department will be renamed the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring Protection (HYDRA). The Chief Minister proposed appointing a DIG-level officer as the director and SP-level officers as additional directors. He also recommended special teams from GHMC, HMDA, the Water Board, city traffic, and other departments to join this new division.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for the Disaster Management Department to offer continuous services to city residents, not just during floods or emergencies. HYDRA should actively address all issues faced by Hyderabad’s citizens, including preserving the city’s tanks and ponds, protecting government properties from encroachments, and managing hoardings and flex banners. Additionally, HYDRA will oversee water pipelines, electricity supply lines, drainage, flood management, and traffic control.
Focus on heritage and infrastructure projects
Chief Minister Reddy directed the acceleration of the Musi River Development Project, aiming to elevate Hyderabad’s international reputation. He stressed the importance of working towards the government’s goal of transforming this project into a landmark. He also ordered officials to take necessary actions to restore historical buildings and structures within the city. The GHMC presented a PowerPoint on various heritage sites, such as the City Library, Charminar Ayurvedic Hospital, and Nizamia Observatory etc. The Chief Minister encouraged exploring ways to develop these sites for tourism and integrating feasible ones into the Musi River Development Project.
The Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary Shantikumar to draft a comprehensive reorganization plan, including staffing, duties, and budget allocations for HYDRA. He also emphasized identifying key areas where the Disaster Management Department can enhance its operations.
The meeting included Chief Secretary Shantikumar, Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Danakishore, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali, GHMC Vigilance Disaster Management Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, and Hyderabad Water Board MD Ashok Reddy.
