Bachupally Roads Left In Disrepair As Municipal Authorities Fail To Act.

HYDERABAD: The residents and commuters of Bachupally, a region under the jurisdiction of the Nizampet municipal corporation (NMC), are facing a host of problems due to the poor condition of roads.

The entire road from Reddy Lab to Bachupally Signal is damaged and unpaved. In addition to this road, another road towards Hill County Road next to Darga Land is also damaged. The authorities have made no progress and have done nothing to upgrade the roads.

Surendra, an IT employee and social activist, reports that the roads of Bachupally have been damaged and in poor condition for five years. The citizens and residents of the surrounding areas are facing problems and most people avoid these roads and take an alternative route to reach home safely. Surendra expressed his concern that this is very dangerous and threatens the lives of the citizens.

The roads are like death marches for the residents of Bachupally as the routes have several potholes. Whenever it rains, the roads are in a complete mess because they have not been upgraded, and the rainwater stagnates, leading to various other health hazards, the social activist mentioned.

“Over the past five years, we have lodged a large number of complaints with the Nizampet Municipal Corporation about the miserable road conditions in Bachupally. Despite this, the authorities have always ignored our pleas, citing inadequate funds or budgets for road construction,” Surendra said.

There have been several accidents due to the damaged roads. This road has already cost several lives. Recently, a young woman lost her life on these damaged roads.

The municipal authorities simply say that their budget for upgrading the roads was not enough and that was the main reason for the poor condition of the roads, Surendra said.
