Asaduddin Owaisi Emerges Victorious For The Fifth Time From Hyderabad Parliament

Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi from All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen(AIMIM) emerged victorious with over a majority of three lakh votes for the fifth time consecutively from the Hyderabad parliamentary segment on Tuesday.

Owaisi has garnered a total of 6,61,981 votes, putting him ahead in the race. Madhavi Latha Kompella from the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), who has received 3,23,894 votes came in second position trailing by a margin of 3,38,087 votes.

The Hyderabad parliamentary segment is seeing a competitive race, with significant attention on the performance of the candidates. For the first time BJP fielded a female candidate from the Hyderabad constituency- Madhavi Latha Kompella, despite her efforts, lost the election.

In third place, Mohammed Waliullah Sameer from Indian National congress(INC) has secured 62,962 votes trailing behind the two leading candidates. The vote counting process in the Hyderabad parliamentary segment is being closely observed by the nation, given the history in this region.

The Hyderabad constituency remained a pocket borough of the Owaisi family ever since incumbent MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi won the Lok Sabha election in Hyderabad for the first time as an independent candidate in 1984. Asaduddin Owaisi’s father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi was elected an MP from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat for six consecutive terms till 2004.

Hyderabad parliament constituency saw a voting percentage of 48.48 on May 13. It should be noted that the Hyderabad parliament constituency consists of Seven Assembly segments- Malakpet, Karwan, Goshamahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakuthpura and Bahadurpura.

Telangana state went for the Parliamentary elections for its 17 Lok Sabha constituencies on May 13, 2024. As the results are scheduled to be announced on June 4, the counting process across the counting centers began at 8AM on Tuesday morning. This time, the ruling Indian National Congress(INC) party, opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in the foray.
