Amrapali Kata appointed as Commissioner of GHMC in major bureaucratic reshuffle

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has made important changes in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by transferring and appointing key officials. Amrapali Kata, Ronald Rose, and A. V Ranganath are some of key changes, which are done in the new administration.

Amrapali Kata, IAS (2010) has been appointed as Commissioner of GHMC, who previously worked as a Joint Metropolitan Commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). Her appointment is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the governance of Hyderabad’s municipal affairs.

Other key administrative changes

D. Ronald Rose, IAS (2006), who held the Commissioner position at GHMC, has been transferred to the role of Secretary to the Government, Energy Department. He is also placed in full additional charge (FAC) of the CMD, GENCO & TRANSCO posts, relieving Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, IAS (1999).

A.V. Ranganath, IPS (2006), the Inspector General of Police for Multi-Zone-I, Hyderabad, has been posted as Commissioner of Enforcement, Vigilance & Disaster Management for GHMC, replacing Nyalakonda Prakash Reddy, IPS (2010). Prakash Reddy will now serve as Managing Director of TG Tourism Development Corporation Limited.

Other notable transfers include Sneha Shabarish, IAS (2017), who has been moved to Additional Commissioner of GHMC from Zonal Commissioner of GHMC Serilingampally. Hemanta Keshav Patil, IAS (2019), formerly Additional Collector (Revenue) in Hyderabad, is now the Zonal Commissioner of GHMC LB Nagar. Similarly, Apurv Chauhan, IAS (2020), and Abhishek Augustya, IAS (2020), have been assigned as Zonal Commissioners for GHMC Kukatpally and Municipal Corporation Khammam, respectively.

Additionally, P. Upender Reddy, a non-cadre officer, has been transferred from his role as Additional Commissioner of GHMC to Zonal Commissioner of GHMC Serilingampally. Nikhil Chakravarthi has been appointed as Executive Director of TGIIC, relieving E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, IFS.
