₹8 lakh stolen from scooter at Zaheerabad Tahsildar office; two on bike caught on CCTV

HYDERABAD: Unidentified persons broke open a scooter’s dicky and stole ₹8 lakh at the Tahsildar’s office in Zaheerabad on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, M Narsimha Reddy, a resident of Tumkunta in Zaheerabad mandal, had come for land registration after arranging funds.

He withdrew ₹7 lakh from a State Bank of India branch at around 12.50 IST and already had ₹1 lakh with him. He placed the cash in the dicky of his friend Methari Buchaiah’s scooty.

Cash found missing after brief visit inside office

Both entered the Tahsildar’s office to complete the registration process. When they returned at around 13.20 IST, the cash was missing.

Following a complaint, Zaheerabad police registered a case.

CCTV footage shows two suspects on motorcycle

Police said CCTV footage showed two persons arriving on a motorcycle and committing the theft. Efforts are under way to identify and trace the accused.
