HYDERABAD: The investigation into the alleged phone-tapping case gathered pace on Monday as Mahabubnagar legislators Yennam Srinivas Reddy and Anirudh Reddy appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The inquiry is underway at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) office in Banjara Hills, where SIT officials are expected to collect evidence from the two legislators.

MLAs had alleged phone surveillance before elections

The SIT issued notices to the legislators after they alleged that their phones had been tapped ahead of the previous Assembly elections.

Officials are treating both legislators as witnesses in the case. Their statements are being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Statements to focus on alleged surveillance claims

According to information available to investigators, the phones of both legislators were allegedly tapped during the tenure of the previous government. The SIT is examining the allegations and gathering evidence as part of its probe.
