Yadagirigutta temple audit flags ₹22 lakh gold, silver theft

Telangana: An internal audit at the Yadagirigutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple has confirmed the disappearance of gold and silver dollars worth about ₹22 lakh, triggering fresh controversy over alleged insider thefts.
Officials said the missing items were sold through the temple’s publicity wing. The irregularities came to light during an audit, with suspicion falling on an employee working at the temple.
The case has revived concerns over repeated instances of internal theft. In the past, employees were accused of stealing tamarind from the prasadam preparation centre. Staff were also found to have committed irregularities in prasadam sales.
Officials said such repeated acts were denting the temple’s revenue and undermining internal controls. Further inquiry is under way.
