Hyderabad: Woxsen university responds after viral video claims ‘fake’ paneer served to students

Hyderabad: Questions have been raised over the alleged poor quality of food served at Woxsen University, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
A widely shared video on Instagram shows paneer curry on a plate. The video shows someone separating the paneer from the gravy and cleans it with water and later pours iodine-like liquid on it and a few moments later the paneer cubes turn blue-ish (iodine test was performed here) which confirms the paneer serving is synthetic.
The overlay text on the video reads: “Poor quality food: Students at Woxsen University expose ‘Fake Paneer’ being served in hostel.”

“Students at Woxsen University in Telangana, Hyderabad are raising concerns over consistently poor quality food being served at the facility, with complaints of stale meals, and unhygienic conditions in the kitchen. Students paying approximately ₹250000 yearly for food are being served ‘Fake Paneer’,” captioned the post on Instagram.

As the video quickly gained traction, the comment section was flooded with reactions, with users tagging government agencies to investigate the issue.
Woxsen University rejected the claim made in the video and replied in the comment section, stating that following the complaint they took certain actions and shared their summary.
“All paneer used on campus is sourced directly from M/s Dodla Dairy Pvt Ltd. Upon receiving the complaint, we obtained Dodla’s Quality reports, which confirmed no signs of adulteration,” commented Woxsen University.

A while ago, the university issued a statement on the issue and also shared a ‘certificate of analysis’ from M/s Dodla Dairy Pvt. Ltd which supplies paneer to the institute.
“All students, staff, and parents are urged to refrain from engaging with or sharing unverified information. Please rest assured that all food served on campus undergoes strict quality control and SOPs to ensure it is completely safe and free from adulteration before being served to students and staff. Your health and well-being remain our top priority,” Woxsen University posted on its Instagram account.
