Woman killed with boulder, set on fire near Outer Ring Road in Munirabad

Hyderabad: A married woman was found murdered near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Munirabad on January 24, 2025.
Reports suggest the woman was attacked with a boulder under the ORR bypass underbridge and then set on fire after being doused with petrol.
The Medchal police, along with the clues team, responded to the scene after receiving information from local witnesses. They are collecting evidence as part of the investigation.
The body was discovered in a remote area near the ORR, which sees heavy vehicle traffic but little pedestrian movement. Authorities are working to identify the victim. Initial reports indicate she was struck with a boulder before being set on fire.
The victim, believed to be in her mid-20s, was married. Police are checking the reports of missing persons to find any matches.
“We received information about the incident around 3 p.m. The victim appears to be between 25 and 30 years old, and the body was severely disfigured. We are working to identify her and are reviewing missing persons cases. Further details will be available after the post-mortem report,” said Medchal Police. The investigation is currently ongoing. In another shocking incident in Hyderabad, a man allegedly killed his wife, chopped her body, and cooked the parts in a pressure cooker. The incident occurred in New Venkataramana Colony, Jillelaguda, within the Meerpet area of Ranga Reddy district.
The accused has been identified as Guru Murthy (45), a native of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh. He served in the Army and retired. He is currently working as a security guard in Kanchanbagh. Guru Murthy was married to Venkata Madhavi 13 years ago. They have two children.
According to reports, Guru Murthy and his mother, Subbamma, initially reported Venkata Madhavi, his wife, as missing on January 16. However, during the investigation, the police learned that the couple had ongoing disputes.
Upon interrogation, Guru Murthy confessed to the murder. He revealed that after killing his wife, he chopped her body into pieces, cooked it in a pressure cooker, and disposed of the remains in the nearby Jillelaguda pond.
The police are currently in the process of collecting evidence on what Guru Murthy has said. A search has been launched for traces of the body.
